Welcome to OpalisRendezVous for Windows NT, v1.02-2
    ---------------------------------------------------

1- Presentation :
-----------------

OpalisRendezVous is a file/database transfer and replication
service for Windows NT. It allows you to automate copy, move,
replication, transfer, archive, backup, mirroring of files and
database rows between two or more computers, linked by a
network or a dial-up line.

If the link is a dial-up line, OpalisRendezVous takes care of
establishing the connection and hanging up when the transfer
is done. A dial-up connection can be initiated towards Windows
NT computers as well as PPP servers (such as Unix hosts).
Transfers can use the standard copy, the FTP protocol or the
RendezVous protocol.

The RendezVous protocol is an Opalis innovation that allows
transfers to be automated over the Internet (or intranets)
even between computers not permanently linked to the network,
like regular Internet dial-up clients.

An intermediate entity called RendezVous Server is used to
help senders and receivers connect and exchange files. Purchase
of OpalisRendezVous includes an unlimited right to use Opalis
Internet RendezVous Server (rdv.opalis.com).

Thanks to OpalisRendezVous and the Internet, you can instantly
create your own world-wide permanent network using dial-up
local connections only.

2- Installation:
----------------

Install OpalisRendezVous by executing the setup.exe program.
If you run the setup program from a Windows 95 computer, you
can only install the Administrator.
From a Windows NT system, you can choose between three options:
- Administrator and Service
- Administrator only
- Remote Installation: choose this option to install the
OpalisRendezVous service on another Windows NT computer
(it will also work locally if you wish to install just the
service). You must have administrative rights on the remote
computer. Note that the installation does not require a
reboot and that you can immediately start to work with
OpalisRendezVous after the installation. See below the
  Requirements section.

* Account used for the service: During the installation, the
service may be installed using the System account.
However, you must modify it if you plan to use ODBC functions
or if you want the computer to interact with remote computers.
To do so, use Services applet of the Control Panel (Startup
  button).

* Previous version users: you can install OpalisRendezVous in
your current OpalisRendezVous directory, your configuration
  will be preserved.

* Requirements :
  - Administrator: Windows NT 3.51 or later,
or Windows 95 (Microsoft Remote Registry Services must be
installed, it is available on Windows 95 CDROM:
  ADMIN\NETTOOLS\REMOTEREG)
  - Service: Windows NT 3.5 or later.
TCP/IP for RendezVous, FTP and SMTP (Internet mail)
  functions.
  RAS for dial-up operations.
  ODBC for database functions.

* New to 1.02:
  - FTP Scripts
  - Number of bytes transferred in the log
  - Unique name for destination file available to FTP flows
  - Various enhancements in the Administrator

3 - Release notes:
------------------

* For all flows using the Every option (for example,
every 5 minutes) : this interval is the time between the
end of a transfer and the beginning of the next one.

* For ODBC flows using the When result of query option :
the manual indicates that the result of the test query
must be a numeric value. Please note that this numeric
value can be returned into a character field, provided
that theres no letter or additionnal character that
would prevent the conversion performed by OpalisRendezVous.

* For file flows using the When total directory size
overpasses option : when a filter on file extension
is used in the What tab, only files that match the filter
are taken into account to calculate the directory size.

4 - OpalisRendezVous editions:
------------------------------

You can use the evaluation version of OpalisRendezVous to
test all features of OpalisRendezVous, but not simultaneously.
Please refer to the "evaluation version" section in the
on-line help to see the exact limitations of this version.

Alpha version available on our Web site.
Mips and PowerPC versions: please call us.

* Pricing: see order.txt or order section of the Online help.

* Differences between Windows 95 and Windows NT for the
Administrator: The executable is the same, but some functions
are not available on Windows 95 because they are part of
the advanced NT API. For example, the service cannot be
started from the Administrator when using Windows 95.

5 - Uninstall
-------------

The standard InstallShield uninstall has been removed from
the kit. To uninstall OpalisRendezVous, run uninst.bat
(to remove registry entries and service), manually delete
program group and files from the OpalisRendezVous directory.

6 - Distribution of this version:
---------------------------------

You can distribute the evaluation version as you wish with
all its files. Partial distribution is not allowed.
Read license agreement for complete information (license.txt).
